Two Distinctive Spaces

Grand Ballroom or Persian Terrace?

Grand Ballroom

Grand in every sense, this breathtaking ballroom features abundant natural light, sparkling chandeliers and a remarkable hand-painted ceiling designed to resemble an open sky filled with clouds. Its expansive, open layout keeps dinner, formalities and dancing visually connected, creating an elegant setting with an immediate sense of scale and occasion.

Persian Terrace

The Persian Terrace has a naturally defined flow. The DJ is typically positioned on the stage, followed by the dance floor and bar area—the same area often used for the ceremony. The room then transitions into the sweetheart or wedding-party table and guest dining area. Although everything remains connected within one ballroom, the central dance floor creates a distinction between dinner and dancing that works exceptionally well for building reception energy.

Both ballrooms can host a beautiful ceremony and be transformed during cocktail hour for the reception. The best choice comes down to the atmosphere and layout you prefer: the open grandeur and natural light of the Grand Ballroom, or the Persian Terrace's defined separation between dining and dancing.

An Epic Grand Ballroom Celebration

Svetlana and Konstantin wanted a celebration that felt elegant, dramatic and unforgettable. Uplighting transformed the Grand Ballroom, while dancing on the clouds created a cinematic setting for their formal dance. Cold sparks added another layer of excitement to the room's biggest moments without taking attention away from the couple.

The celebration also included a personal performance by the bride's sister during dinner, giving guests a memorable live moment before the evening transitioned into dancing. Once the dance floor opened, it stayed packed—bringing together the visual impact of the ballroom with the energy of a true celebration.

Brittany & Ryan

From Elegant Wedding to Big-City Nightclub

Brittany and Ryan had a clear vision: begin with a welcoming wedding celebration and gradually transform the Persian Terrace into the kind of nightclub experience their guests would expect in a major city.

The dance floor opened with popular, familiar music designed to bring every generation into the celebration. After Brittany's dress change, the entire atmosphere shifted. The music became more club-driven, the nightclub-style lighting took over, and the handheld CO₂ cannon amplified the evening's biggest drops and dance-floor moments.

Their Social Booth and flower wall gave guests another interactive experience away from the dance floor, while uplighting helped connect the complete visual design.

Kristin and Corey chose a more classic and elegant direction for their Persian Terrace wedding. A beautiful two-tone uplighting design complemented the ballroom and created a refined atmosphere without overpowering its character.

Following their introductions, the couple moved directly into an impressive choreographed first dance. Their performance earned a standing ovation and immediately established the energy for the celebration ahead. Once open dancing began, their guests kept the dance floor full throughout the night.

Their wedding demonstrates that a high-energy reception does not need to sacrifice elegance. With the right sequence, room design and music, the Persian Terrace can feel sophisticated during formalities and completely alive once the party begins.

Madelyn and Conlan's wedding showcased the full progression of a Marriott Syracuse Downtown celebration. Their day began with a beautiful ceremony in the Grand Ballroom. During cocktail hour, Marriott's staff transformed the space for the reception while guests enjoyed live entertainment nearby.

The saxophonist performed a sophisticated mix of Rat Pack favorites and Motown during cocktail hour as guests visited the Social Booth with its Glam upgrade. Following introductions, Madelyn and Conlan moved directly into their choreographed first dance—another unforgettable moment that set the tone for the reception.

Uplighting established the room's elegant foundation, while nightclub-style lighting helped transform the Grand Ballroom when it was time to dance. The result was a complete guest experience that moved naturally from ceremony to cocktails, formalities and a packed dance floor.
